This month we’re excited to share various updates, including new portal reporting, new PoPs, and portal enhancement; here are this month’s new developments and fresh new features:

• NEW PoP: Brisbane Australia (BNE)

CacheFly’s Brisbane PoP represents a significant leap forward for our customers in Australia. This PoP complements Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne to enhance CacheFly’s already extensive network in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes 22 countries and 27 locations, providing optimal routing for users across the continent. By speeding time to last byte, we’re able to reduce latency by up to 60% compared to other major CDNs. To view a list of our production and private PoPs, visit CacheFly.com/network-map.

• Serve Stale (Dynamic Option)

This option allows the CDN to serve expired cached content when the original server is unavailable or returning errors. With “Serve Stale Content” activated, the CDN will continue to deliver cached content after the objects’ TTL (Time To Live) has expired, provided it is within the specified keep period. Available to all customers via the portal or API.

• Bandwidth Throttling Script

Effectively manage your bandwidth usage with our bandwidth throttling script. This script allows you to set default bandwidth limits and specify exceptions, ensuring optimal resource allocation and consistent user experiences. Separately, you can control it using query params.

• Cache Ratio and Original Reports in Portal

Our analytics in Portal now includes two new reports – Cache Ratio (both Cache Hit Ratio and Cache Byte Ratio) and Origin. Stats are aggregated in 5-minute intervals and can be grouped by services, regions, and Points of Presence (PoPs) for comprehensive analysis. We’ve also updated the graphing tools to improve selection of time with easy to use drag and select.

As we close out another exciting year, we want to express our sincere appreciation to all of our customers who drive us forward every day. This year, our goal has been to ensure that every feature we develop is designed to be seamlessly accessible to all customers via the API and the Portal. We’ve added over 27 new features to CacheFly, some of the biggest being our new Managed Object Storage and Image Optimization.
